PODERI GIANNI GAGLIARDO
The Poderi Gianni Gagliardo winery originates from a tradition of grape growers located in Piedmont since 1847. Estate bottling of property grapes began 1974. All wines come from local varieties, and deeply reflect the character of the terroir where they are grown. The wines, exclusively obtained from property vineyards thanks to a careful and accurate production philosophy, are characterized by an unceasing research of elegance and balance. The vines are planted in both Langhe and Roero areas and include some of the very best Barolo cru such as Lazzarito, Castelletto, Monvigliero, Mosconi and Fossati, whereas the cellar is situated in the village of La Morra.
The production of this fascinating estate is around 180.000 bottles per year. The grapes cultivated are Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto and Favorita, which is the Piedmont version of Vermentino grapes, that grow far from the coast in a continental climate which gives lot of character and makes it fresh and fragrant.
Eldest son to Gianni, Stefano is an oenologist and is in charge of the style of the wines, which are characterized by a tireless search for elegance, balance, and harmony.
Stefano Gagliardo’s quote encloses the philosophy of the estate “all the work in the vineyard and in the winery aim towards a very specific goal, to produce wines with great balance and elegance.”
Currently helmed by Chef Michele Sorrentino (Michelin starred in 1999), the beautifully quaint and homely ambience is decorated with Asian and European antique collections and art painted by the owner and famous artists from Italy and around the world that guests can shop for their love ones. The cuisine concentrates on traditional dishes from various regions of Italy.
